Our CBT and Psychometrics Expert
Hi from Tracey!
Here’s a little about myself and the work that I am involved with. I work with people in enabling them to enhance the positive way in which they see themselves, and to change any thought patterns and behaviours that may be inhibiting their well-being. As a qualified expert in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and Psychometrics I deliver these aspects into the Simply Changing Diploma in Coaching.
CBT is all about how our thoughts determine our behaviour. If we can think in an open and positive way then our behaviour, including our moods and emotions, will follow suit! Psychometrics covers a range of different ways of finding out about how each person has their own learning style and preferences that work for them. When we know what it is that really works for us then we have the ground to use this to our best abilities, putting our reflective understanding into action. So, using and understanding a bit more about CBT and Psychometrics are a great combination in allowing ourselves to bring about positive change in our lives.
Here’s a little of my background. I am from a large family and live in Ashbourne in Derbyshire. Some members of my family live in Africa, and I love going on to visit them when I can!
I have over 16 years experience in the field of organisational development, initially starting my career as a registered nurse and working as a ward manager in Orthopaedic nursing. Since then I have had many different roles in Management and Organisational Development within the NHS and a large Children’s Charity.
I have been involved in designing and delivering Management Training in many large businesses including South West Trains, London and Avon Fire Brigades and Humber Teaching Primary Care Trust to name a few. I find tremendous value in sharing my knowledge of Psychology to facilitate the development of individuals and businesses.
As a qualified coach (CBT and NLP Practitioner) I have discovered that combining these skills with my qualifications in Psychometrics has enabled me to make a real difference with the people whom I work with. For example, using MBTI (a psychometric tool which I love!) can really bring tremendous benefits to individuals as they gain awareness of their personality types. I use this in a coaching role to help individuals to develop confidence in their strengths. It can improve team communication and benefit all levels of management in realising that differences are the cause of many tensions that lie in organisations. MBTI can be harnessed in a really positive way with the right knowledge and skill.
I gain real value in my work in facilitating individuals and groups. I regard everyone as resourceful individuals and I feel that I can relate well to people at all levels as I am genuinely interested and respectful of people’s differences.
One of My Changes
I became self-employed to give myself a better work-life balance and to overcome the tendency I have to react to situations to please others, sometimes at the expense of my own needs. It is still a challenge but I choose how I spend my time more consciously and in tune with the person I am. Love is the foundation of my relationships at home and at work. I have learned that you can love work (which helps when it is such a big part of life).
You can also love the people you work with and this is the basis for mastering great relationships with people and overcoming difficulties.
One of my great learnings has been that you can change the way that you feel by changing the thought and I am much more confident and capable because of positive thinking. I also challenge people much more easily when they try and block my goals and dreams by pointing out what might go wrong. What you believe in has a significant impact on what you get in life!
Empowering people to make positive change is why I love working with Simply Changing. There is a very strong ethos of seeing people’s gifts and helping them to become the person they want to be.
